What I Have Been Taking

August 8, 2012 No Comments by admin

From my past few posts I have been getting a good number of requests on what supplements I have been taking. I have tried a lot of different supplements and vitamins, and have recently found some that work really well for me. I am sure many of you are like me in the fact that it is really hard to walk into a supplement store and get smashed by the salesmen pushing their highest commission product. It is really important to do the research yourself talk with people you trust, and use what works best for you.

For protein I am using – Level 1 by 1st Phorm from St Louis, Missouri. Level-1 is comprised of the Level-1 Matrix which is an ultra bio-available, sustained assimilation protein formula consisting of Cross-Flow Micro-Filtrated Whey Protein Isolate, Low Temperature Micro-Filtrated Whey Protein Concentrate, Low Temperature Processed Milk Protein Concentrate, Pure Egg Whites and Sodium Caseinate.

I have found it to be one of the highest grades of protein that doesn’t set really heavy.  I normally take it with almond milk in the morning with a scoop of my ground up oatmeal and chia seeds. It tastes very good and doesn’t destroy my stomach taking it pre-workout instead of post. I find that the oatmeal gives me the carb support that I need for good energy support. I normally take it about an hour before I workout. I also really like taking one after dinner without the oatmeal. It really eliminated any desire for dessert or anything I shouldn’t be eating. I get this product at Supplement Superstore.

For pre-workout I am using Monster Pump. I take 1 scoop in the mornings before I CrossFit and it really helps get my body awake. It doesn’t feel as harsh to me as some of the other pre-workouts that I have taken. I don’t really like to feel my skin crawl, I just want to be awake and energized before my WOD. I get this product at GNC.

For during workout and post workout I am taking BLOX Amino Acid which is a silk amino acid. Silk amino acids promote muscle hypertrophy and muscle endurance, as well as support healthy body composition, promote natural testosterone and support healthy cortisol levels. BLOX are VERY light and taste great, they have really helped with recovery for Courtney and I both.  I get this product at GNC.

I will be posting about the vitamins next time. I have really enjoyed the process of trying supplements, talking with body builders, people with way more experience than me, and my doctor to find what I like.  Hope that helps!

Chris
